Luis Avalos Has World Premiere.

"Pachamanca, Mother Earth" Has World Premiere at Los Angeles Theatre Center on November 12

With song and dance a group of traveling players take you on a journey from an ancient Andean legend of Creation to the present day as they champion Mother Earth and the Native American experience.

The play is performed in English. It contains six musical numbers. It will be performed in the Los Angeles Theatre Center's 499-seat Theatre 1.

Luis Avalos, writer and director of "Pachamanca, Mother Earth," was born in Cuba and raised in New York City, where he graduated from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and then immediately joined Lincoln Center Repertory Theater, performing on Broadway in "Beggar on Horseback," "The Good Woman of Setzuan" and "Narrow Road to the Deep North, " plus more in off-Broadway and regional theatre. He achieved national fame as a star of the TV series "The Electric Company" (630 episodes) and other series including "ER" (22 episodes) and "Resurrection Boulevard," for which he received the Alma Award, and many guest roles. His screen credits include "The Ringer," "Hollywood Homicide," "Love Stinks," "Jungle 2 Jungle," many more. His directing credits include two Spanish language features in Mexico, "Palenque" and "La Revancha" and a Telemundo special, "El Regalo de Paquito," for which he received an Emmy® nomination. He directed a short for Universal, "Always Roses," which won the San Antonio Film Festival. At the El Portal Theatre, he directed his translation-adaptation of "Ollantay- Warrior of the Sun," an Inca classic. Luis wrote the book and lyrics for the multi-award winning musical "Paquito's Christmas," which debuted at LATC in 1994 and has been much-produced on both coasts since. In 2008 at LATC, he translated, directed and starred in "The Impostor." He is the founder and Artistic Director of The Americas Theatre Arts
Foundation.
