Entre abril y septiembre de 1980, casi 130,000 cubanos salen del puerto del Mariel, Cuba hacia Cayo Hueso, Florida. Ramón es un “Marielito”, término lleno de estereotipos. Esta es la historia conmovedora de un nuevo refugiado cubano adaptándose a la nueva sociedad en los Estados Unidos de Norte América. Aquí, Ramón encuentra libertad, abundancia, confusión y engaño…pero también encuentra.

Protagonizada por Ruben Rabasa, Reynaldo Medina, Lucy Pereda, Juan Granda, Armando Naser, Blanca de Abril, Lillian Hurst, Juan Troya y Mercedes Enriquez, acompañados por un elenco de más de 40 actores y 200 extras.

Beginning in April 1980, almost 130,000 Cubans departed from the port of Mariel, Cuba, for Key West, Florida. Ramon is a “Marielito”, the new Cuban refugee. His adaptation to life in the United States is a difficult process. First he must overcome the negative stereotype associated with being a “Marielito”. Next, there is the matter of finding a job and otherwise integrating into North American society. Through it all, he finds freedom, abundance, confusion and deceit…but he also finds friends, “AMIGOS”.
